Storm Damaged Slope Repairs
La Canada, California
CITY of LA CANADA FLINTRIDGE

Wheeler & Gray prepared drawings and specifications for repairs to various slopes and embankments throughout the City of La Canada Flintridge. The slopes were damaged during winter storms. The project consisted of several sites in different areas of the city. Wheeler & Gray was responsible for nine of the sites. Wheeler & Gray procured and managed land surveying and mapping services and geotechnical exploration and  reporting.

The scope of services included topographic surveys for use as design backgrounds, geo-technical investigations and reports, engineering and design, and preparation and processing of environmental documentation and approvals through the City and other agencies, such as State Fish and Game. The projects are funded by the Federal Emergency Management Agency. The sites for the projects are on varying types of property, including private residential lots, city-owned street right-of-way, and state highway right-of-way. The slides damaged private property, City-owned streets and state roadway and threatened the stability of utilities in public rights-of-way.
