STRUCTURAL ENGINEER

Wheeler & Gray in seeking a Structural Design engineer with a minimum of 10 years of design experience and who possesses registration as a California Structural Engineer. The candidate must have experience with concrete, steel, masonry and wood structures. The successful candidate will be responsible for design and preparation of construction documents for various types of projects including multi-family, office buildings, industrial, schools, hospitals, earth structures, retrofit projects, etc. It is preferable that the candidate be knowledgeable in the use of structural software such as RISA, Enercalc, ETABS, SAFE, etc. and be knowledgeable with current code requirements. The candidate must have experience working in an environment which requires working with clients, travel to project sites throughout California and attendance at meetings with clients, public officials and contractors.

The successful candidate will prepare and direct the preparation of calculations, drawings, specifications, studies and reports for various types of structural projects. The successful candidate will supervise and direct one or more staff members.

The candidate must have excellent written and verbal communication skills.

The candidate must have a minimum of a four-year degree in Civil/Structural Engineering from an accredited U.S. university.

The candidate must be proficient with general office software, such as Excel and Word.

SENIOR CIVIL ENGINEER

The successful candidate for this position will perform civil engineering and project supervision on a daily basis. The candidate will perform civil engineering design and project production tasks such as grading and earthwork design, hydrology and hydraulic calculations for design and sizing of flood control, storm drains and storm water management systems, calculate and set horizontal and vertical alignments and cross sections for road and street improvement projects, create hydraulic computer models for domestic water transmission and distribution networks, storage facilities and services, create computer models of sanitary sewer systems, prepare construction drawings and specifications, develop estimates of construction costs, write reports and narratives describing existing and new engineered systems, develop master plans for existing and new facilities, supervise subordinate staff, review drawings and designs, conduct project meetings and coordinate with design colleagues in other disciplines and maintain client relationships.

This candidate will assist with processing of plans through plan check agencies and assist clients with compliance with regulatory requirements for new projects and operations of existing facilities.

Salary will be commensurate with experience.

CIVIL ENGINEER

This position requires a minimum of five years of experience in civil engineering design, preferably with a small to medium-sized engineering firm. Registration in California as a civil engineer is required for the title of “Civil Engineer.” Candidates without licensure but on licensure track will be considered. Experience should include public works and private sector projects. Project experience must include grading, drainage, utilities, storm water management and quality control, street and road design, site planning and design, water storage, distribution and transmission, sanitary sewers, reclaimed water, cost estimating, feasibility studies, construction support services and master planning.
